Mumbai: A fresh breakthrough in the investigation into the alleged murder of 25-year-old Ketan Agarwal has revealed a “secret call” and deleted digital communications between the accused woman and her co-accused shortly before the crime, police sources said.
According to officials, 20-year-old Siya Goyal reportedly contacted her partner-in-crime, Chetan Chaudhary, around 34 minutes before Agarwal was allegedly pushed off a cliff at Lohagad fort in Pune on June 18. Investigators believe the call may have served as the final coordination link in what is being treated as a pre-planned conspiracy.
The revelation emerged after forensic experts examined the mobile phones of both accused. Call detail records (CDR) and recovered digital traces are now being treated as key evidence in the case, sources said.
Police also suspect that the duo deleted WhatsApp chats and voice notes spanning several months to erase traces of their alleged planning. A cyber unit is currently attempting to recover the erased data using advanced forensic tools. Investigators are also analyzing location data, IP logs, and communication timestamps to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
Officials allege that Goyal pushed Agarwal from a cliff at Lohagad fort, reportedly after deciding to call off their upcoming wedding. Chaudhary is said to have accompanied or followed the couple during the visit to ensure the plan was executed.
Sources further claim that an earlier attempt to harm Agarwal on June 14 failed when he survived after holding onto a bush, after which a misleading explanation was allegedly given to cover up the act.
The investigation continues as police work to establish a clear chain of conspiracy under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
