AAP & GFP today launched Goa First, their non-BJP, non-Congress alliance in Panaji. Arvind Kejriwal stated that the alliance aims to form the next Govt on its own strength. Vijai Sardesai called the alliance the first front of opposition unity.
The Press Conference was led by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal & GFP President Vijai Sardesai, along with Former CM Atishi, Goa President Valmiki Naik & MLAs Engr Cruz Silva & Capt Venzy Viegas from AAP, while GFP leaders Deepak Kalangutkar, President, North Goa District, Adv Ashma Bi Jt. Secretary, Messiah (Meshu) D’Costa, President, Yuva Forward & Vikas Bhagat, Vice President, also were present.
Arvind Kejriwal stated that there could be no better time than the onset of Ganesh Chaturthi to make the announcement of Goa First. He added that Goans feel there is no option for them, as both Congress and BJP both are in an unholy alliance. Goans have been fooled twice, and are in no mood to be fooled thrice.
He stated that Congress voters are upset that the MLAs they vote for join the Congress. Whereas BJP voters are upset that they are now being represented by Congress MLAs who defected; thus, the need for a non-BJP, non-Congress alliance.
Stating that both BJP and Congress have no ideology and are only interested in making money, with Mafia and Builder Raj being rampant in Goa, proving that these two parties are Pocket First, where AAP-GFP will always be Goa First.
Arvind Kejriwal said the alliance will be loyal to the people of Goa and was formed to end the impunity with which BJP always wins, losing elections by poaching Congress MLAs.
Arvind Kejriwal shut down allegations of vote splitting by pointing out that AAP has a track record of earning BJP votes in whichever state it fights. He added that even BJP voters are upset with their party but would never vote for Congress come what may. He added that these voters have always voted for AAP & will eagerly vote for AAP, GFP Goa first, but never Congress.
GFP President Vijai Sardesai pointed out that his party was allying with AAP as they have a record of not defecting, pointing out to how AAP Goa MLAs Capt Venzy Viegas and Engr Cruz Silva never defected, unlike Congress MLAs.
He added that AAP and GFP have both the Moral Right and the ethical responsibility to unite to defeat the BJP. Sardesai said he was happy that they could seal the alliance 5 months before elections rather than 50 days before, as is Congress’ usual habit.
Vijai Sardesai also said that Voters that have been cheated by both Congress and BJP look to Goa Forward as an alternative
