PANAJI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a review meeting with Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant regarding the feedback of BJP’s “Maha Jansampark” Abhiyan and preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were also discussed.
BJP national president JP Nadda was also present at the meeting along with the Goa state BJP president Sadanand Shet Tanavade.
Sawant yesterday soon after cabinet meeting left for Delhi amidst rumours of cabinet reshuffle
Sources have said that Sawant would be discussing on cabinet reshuffle and also candidature for Rajya Sabha seat.
Speculation in the political circles of Goa that a reshuffle in the cabinet will take place to accommodate 3 MLAs among eight who had joined the BJP, has still not come into reality.
Sawant expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would retain both the Lok Sabha seats in Goa in Elections 2019.
“I am absolutely confident. The BJP has the requisite numbers and we will clear the test. With our 12 legislators and nine legislators from the allies, we have 21 MLAs,’ he had sdaid
The Chief Minister also said that he will retain both the seats simply because there is a nationwide momentum for “Phir Ek Baar, Modi Sarkar”.
“Our allies Maharashtravadi Gomantak Paksha (MGP), as well as independents are with us, and we would unitedly fight the Lok Sabha elections and retain both South and North Goa seats,” he had said
On September 14, former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Michael Lobo, Delilah Lobo, Kedar Naik, Sankalp Amonkar, Rajesh Faldesai, Aleixo Sequeira and Rudolf Fernandes joined the BJP, reducing Congress to 3 MLAs.
In April, Goa BJP state president Sadanand Tanavade had said that no discussion about reshuffle of Cabinet has taken place with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, and hence, it is just a rumour spread in political circles.
