SIOLIM: Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo has expressed her endorsement of the current demonstration in Anjuna, where locals are gathering to oppose noise pollution coming from nearby clubs and eateries.
She mentioned that she has consistently urged people to report noise pollution issues to the police from the very beginning of her term. Despite her efforts, the problem remains unresolved.
Recently, MLA Lobo convened a meeting with Alex Sequeira, the Minister of Sound and Noise Pollution, along with the Deputy Collector, the SP of North Goa, and the Director of the Noise Pollution Control Board. During the meeting, it was stressed that all restaurants, bars, and clubs should be equipped with sound control machines.
Additionally, clear instructions were given to these establishments to either build soundproof structures or provide headphones to tourists. Implementing an indoor policy for clubs was also deemed mandatory by the MLA to ensure effective noise control.
Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo has demanded that the upcoming Mira Yash Hotel, a 5-star property by the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) in Anjuna, prioritize employment opportunities for the local residents of Anjuna, Vagator, and the entire Siolim constituency.
She insists that the hotel should give first preference to the unemployed individuals from these areas.
Additionally, the MLA has called for the hotel to provide training and hospitality-related coaching to the local people, ensuring they are well-prepared for employment opportunities in the hospitality sector.
