PANAJI: A woman employee of the Social Welfare Department was injured on Thursday morning after a ceiling fan reportedly came crashing down inside the department’s office on 18th June Road, Panaji.
The woman, who works as a data entry operator, was walking through the office when the ceiling fan allegedly fell on her. She briefly lost consciousness following the incident and was subsequently taken for medical attention.
Doctors reportedly found that she had suffered a minor head injury and advised further scanning to rule out any serious complications.
The incident has once again raised concerns over the condition and safety of the existing office premises. A separate structural mishap had reportedly occurred at the same building earlier, adding to concerns among employees over the condition of the facility.
The Social Welfare Department is expected to shift its operations to new premises in Porvorim. However, the relocation has been delayed as some work at the new building remains pending.
