Ponda: As a part of a climate change project collaboration, the City University of New York (CUNY) and the Bronx Community College (BCC) installed a solar-powered automatic weather station at the IIT-Goa campus in the Goa Engineering College (GEC) at Farmagudi.
With this installation, the IIT will automatically share the received data with stakeholders online and through smartphone app platforms anyone can access it.
The installation ceremony of the U.S. Consulate-funded project, aimed at combating climate change, was attended by Professor Neal Phil- lip, chairperson of Bronx Community College’s Department of chemistry, earth sciences and environmental sciences, and Professor Paramita Sen of the same department; Bronx Community College students; professor delegates of Bronx Community College and City University of New York; Kashyap Pandya, senior media ad- visor, U.S. Consulate at Mumbai; IIT-Goa director B.K. Mishra; Professor Sharad Sinha and students and professors from the cere- Goa Engineering College.
These weather stations will also monitor air quality and soil moisture.
