New Delhi: Ahead of the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army issued a strong statement reaffirming the country’s uncompromising position on terrorism. The message emphasised that when the limits of humanity are violated, the response will be firm and decisive, reflecting a unified national resolve.
Shared on X, the statement was accompanied by an image carrying the line, “Some boundaries should never be crossed,” underscoring the significance of the operation and its broader message.
The operation was launched on May 7, 2025, following the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. It marked a shift towards a zero tolerance approach, focusing on dismantling terror networks with precision and accountability.
Designed as an intelligence driven mission, Operation Sindoor targeted key terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and beyond, while prioritising minimal civilian impact. Nine major terror camps were identified through coordinated intelligence efforts and struck with calibrated force, maintaining strict operational discipline.
The mission demonstrated seamless coordination among all three armed forces. The Indian Air Force carried out precision strikes on strategic locations, including the Nur Khan and Rahimyar Khan air bases, while also countering retaliatory drone and unmanned aerial threats through a layered defence system featuring platforms such as the Akash missile.
At sea, the Indian Navy ensured maritime security by deploying its carrier battle group, supported by MiG 29K fighter aircraft and airborne surveillance systems. This enabled constant monitoring and rapid response capabilities across the region.
Following the strikes, cross border tensions escalated with drone and UCAV attacks targeting Indian installations, which were effectively neutralised. A ceasefire was reached on May 10 after communication between military leadership on both sides, temporarily halting further exchanges.
Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi later highlighted that the operation maintained restraint, including avoiding action during religious observances, reflecting a focus on precision and humanitarian considerations.
Military officials have described Operation Sindoor as part of an ongoing strategy, signalling a more assertive and sustained approach to national security.
