Porvorim: Shri Suresh Gopi, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism, arrived in Goa on Tuesday and reviewed key tourism initiatives being undertaken by the state government.
The Minister was welcomed by Shri Sandip Jacques, IAS, Secretary Tourism, Government of Goa; Shri Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism; Shri Kuldeep Arolkar, Managing Director of GTDC; Shri Shawn Mendes, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Tourism Minister, along with other officials and dignitaries.
As part of his visit, Gopi toured the Porvorim Town Square project, a flagship initiative aimed at creating a vibrant public space for residents and visitors. The project is designed to encourage community interaction, cultural activities and greater public participation while enhancing the urban landscape of Porvorim.
The Union Minister also reviewed several ongoing tourism-related projects and infrastructure developments across Goa. During his interactions with senior officials of the Tourism Department, discussions were held on tourism promotion, infrastructure enhancement and initiatives aimed at strengthening Goa’s position as a premier tourism destination.
Officials briefed the Minister on the progress of various projects and outlined plans to further improve visitor experiences while promoting sustainable tourism development in the state.
The visit underscores the Centre’s continued engagement with Goa’s tourism sector and its efforts to support initiatives that contribute to the state’s economic growth and tourism potential.
