MARGAO: South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha today slammed former Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao for his comments that the latter failed to deliver promises made to the people of South Goa.
Addressing a press conference, Sardinha said that the people of South Goa know what work has been done in my ongoing tenure.
“A lot of works are done. Some are in the pipeline. Some people cannot see the good work done by me, and that is the reason they are talking,” said Sardinha.
Alemao had slammed the current South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha for not taking up any development works.
“Congress is nowhere; they are finished,” he had alleged.
Sardinha also charged Karnataka for trying to divert the river Mhadei water to the state for the steel plants under the guise of drinking water.
He said that he had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately withdraw the DPR nod accorded to Karnataka to divert waters from river Mhadei.
In his letter, copies of which were also sent to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Jal Shakti Minster, Sardinha said he has demanded to know from the Centre how the DPR was approved when the matter is sub judice in the court.
Sardinha pointed out that Goans would not mind giving some water to Karnataka for drinking purposes.
He, however, charged Karnataka for trying to divert the river Mhadei water to the state for irrigation under the guise of drinking water.
The South Goa MP has warned that Goa would suffer if the river Mhadei river water is diverted to Karnataka while calling upon the government to protect the state’s interests at all costs.
