PANAJI: St Cruz MLA Antonio Fernandes has assured to allot shops within the next 2-3 days to vendors whose stalls were demolished outside Goa Medical College (GMC).
Gada/kiosk/fruit vendors whose stalls were demolished today met the Santa Cruz MLA at his office at Santa Cruz for rehabilitation updates and decided the next course of action.
“Within the next 2-3 days, we will allot shops to all vendors whose stalls were demolished outside Goa Medical College (GMC). I have called up the Collector and asked him to hold a meeting with the GMC officials along with the MLAs and sarpanches to chalk out a rehabilitation plan,” said Fernandes after the meeting.
Fernandes said he has explained the highway plan to the CM and highlighted areas where the vendors could be rehabilitated.
Last month many of the stalls and shops kiosks that were installed illegally and encroaching on the road outside Goa Medical College Bambolim, were cleared by the authorities.
The authorities had arrived with the JCB machine during the wee hours.
Meanwhile, Fernandes had also informed them that during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence, it was decided to allot 2-metre x 2-metre shop space to them, and this was also informed to the North Goa Collector, Ajit Roy. Still, now only the health department and GMC have to decide on it.
