PANAJI: Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Ganesh Chandru Gaonkar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thanked him for the Union Government’s decision regarding Scheduled Tribe (ST) reservation in the Goa Legislative Assembly.
The meeting comes amid the state’s efforts to secure political reservation for the Scheduled Tribe community in the Assembly, making the issue a key focus of the Speaker’s interaction with the Prime Minister.
Gaonkar conveyed his gratitude to Modi for the decision and apprised him of developments concerning the Goa Legislative Assembly.
During the meeting, the Speaker also discussed the proposed celebration marking 25 years of the present Goa Legislative Assembly building.
Gaonkar shared details of the planned Silver Jubilee commemorative programme and sought the Prime Minister’s support and guidance to make the celebrations a memorable occasion.
The meeting highlighted the Goa Legislative Assembly’s appreciation for the continued support and guidance extended by the Prime Minister and the Union Government towards the state and its democratic institutions.
