MAPUSA: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today said that the entire state of Goa has faced a massive loss of Rs 40 crore due to the Cyclone Tauktae
CM said that power supply to Bardez will be restored by today evening or tomorrow.
“Cyclone Tauktae has left Goa with a massive loss of Rs 40 crore. Around 135 houses were damaged in Bardez Taluka,” said CM
CM Sawant along with Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza and Deputy Collector today held a meeting to dicuss on the loss caused due to the ur cyclone.
CM Sawant said that Bardez power supply will be restored by today evening or tomorrow. CM Sawant said that there is no man power.
“Dy Collectors have been directed to use funds from DMF,” he added
The Chief Minister also held a virtual conference with top officials and instructed officials too “work on warfooting” to assess the damage caused by the calamity.
Sawant said that the national highways would be cleared of obstacles and debris on priority, while efforts were on to provide uninterrupted power to hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. “Power will be restored to villages by May 18,” Sawant said.
The Chief Minister also said that as many as 700 electric poles and around 200 transformers were damaged due to the impact of the cyclone.
Sawant also said that the cyclone had caused major mobile network outages in the state.
