PANAJI: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said he and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will meet Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Union Home Minister (Amit Shah) after the Assembly session ends on August 10 demanding that the new airport be made the point of call for international flights.
“We have begun discussing Goa beyond the beaches. To assure economic growth and job creation, we must seize every opportunity,” he said.
When it came to visitor numbers, the state needed to focus on quality rather than quantity, and Khaunte suggested that Kerala is one such success story from which Goa may draw inspiration.
Russian travelers with high spending habits frequent Dubai. They ought go visit Goa. They are no longer visiting Goa. We must investigate what took place. The state is interested in learning precisely what went wrong that caused them to be routed to a place like Dubai,” Khaunte added.
He added that the coastal state has the chance to boost tourism with the opening of Manohar International Airport at Mopa, which is its second airport, adding that Goa should model itself after places like Saudi Arabia, which is growing after introducing new tourism services and various projects.
