PANAJI: The State Rooftop Solar Scheme has received nearly 18 applications within a month after State launched an online portal. The applicant includes those of residential and commercial.
So far, State has already installed 287.47kW rooftop solar capacity.
The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had on March 31 launched an online portal for new applications to install solar rooftop panels. The portal is developed by the Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) in association with the departments of new and renewable energy and electricity.
As per the information available from GEDA, from April 1 till date, total 18 applications have been received under residential and commercial categories and all are under various stages of execution.
Through this portal, the entire process – from application to installation to subsidy – has gone online. The portal also lets applicants check status. At each stage of the process, applicants can expect to receive SMSes and emails.
As per the procedure, the applicant has to connect with the empanelled installers for Rooftop PV system installation. There are nearly 22 Goa based installers empanelled with the State apart from those outside Goa.
The Union ministry for new and renewable energy (MNRE) and the state government offer subsidies for the installation of rooftop solar plants with a capacity of up to 10kW.
At present, the MNRE gives 40 per cent subsidy for domestic consumers who install 1kW to 3kW rooftop solar power plants with the state government providing an additional 10 per cent subsidy.
