PANAJI: “It is a shame that the insensitive and irresponsible BJP Government does not know to write the names of Religious Shrines properly. Tourism Department must stop insulting religious sentiments & creating traffic jams by organising Carnaval Parade on busy roads, charged Congress General Secretary,” Captain Viriato Fernandes.
Reacting sharply to the “Spelling Errors” & “Mapusa Parade Route” in the advertisement issued by Goa Tourism Department on Social Media, Captain Fernandes took to sarcasm, saying “Viva Bondo Sorkar”.
Tourism Department has insulted the religious sentiments of the Christian Community by writing “Holi Spirit Church” instead of “Holy Spirit Church in the advertisement issued on Social Media. The RSS guided Government must deliberately do this, stated Captain Viriato Fernandes.
Referring to the Mapusa Carnaval Parade Route from High Court to Mapusa Bus Stand on Tuesday, 21st February 2023, Captain Viriato Fernandes alleged that to satisfy the ego of Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte, who is Tourism Minister, the Carnaval Parade is organised on such a long route.
“I demand that the said advertisement must be withdrawn immediately and Tourism Minister Rohan Khanute must apologise to the Goans for insulting their religious sentiments. The long route of Mapusa Parade should also be shortened,” stated Captain Viriato Fernandes.
