CANACONA: Memorandums pertaining to the upgradation of CHC and various other issues in Canacona were submitted to the MP(South) Capt Viriato Fernandes and Leader of Opposition in Goa Assembly Yuri Alemao by Canacona Congress.
Two different memorandums were separate with the first one (memorandum) submitted to MP (South) Capt Viriato Fernandes on the demand of Canconcars to upgrade the Community Health Centre (CHC) to bring improvement in health services and also mentioned other burning issues in Canacona such commissioning of Gaunem Dam and improvement of road networks. Regarding health needs, demanding the upgradation of CHC to a Canacona Taluka Hospital, congress activists have demanded 24 x 7 availability of X-Ray facility, Availability of a Gynecologist particularly at night, Functioning of Operation Theater, Bullet Ambulance facility to reach the areas not accessible by Ambulance, Child Specialist (Pediatric) on daily basis, a Dedicated Children’s Ward, Need of an operational Ultrasound machinery, Upgradation and re-location of Dialysis Unit on Ground floor, Renovation of Health Staff /Doctors Quarters, and most importantly upgrade Canacona CHC to a Full-Fledged Hospital as Canacona Government Hospital equipped with all the health facilities, as the the Taluka’s population has
increased manifold with ever-increasing of local populace, migrants and tourists. MP Capt Viriato Fernandes is learnt to have promised to visit Canacona and look into the various demands and take up with the government for implementation.
Thereafter, the Canacona congress team consisting of District (South) Congress General Secretary (Org) Gaspar Coutinho and Mrs Plausa Cardozo (Jawahar Bal Manch Co-ordinator for Canacona), submitted another memorandum on the various issues faced by people in Canacona to the Leader Of Opposition Yuri Alemao and requested him to raise those issues in the Goa Assembly during this monsoon session.
Some of the issues raised by Canacona congress with the leader of opposition are Insufficient Parking facilities for the Tourists visiting Canacona beaches, Soulabh Souchalayas on all the Canacona Beaches, Improved access for the locals residing across the coastline to go to beaches, Imposition of Fines on Visiting Tourists by Traffic Police, Non-Commissioning of Gaunem Dam, Appointment of Regular Teaching Faculty, Transport Facility at Govt Higher Secondary School, and regarding upgradation of medical facilities at the CHC –Canacona.
The Leader of Opposition is learnt to have assured to definitely raise these questions in the house (Goa Assembly) for the betterment of Canacona. Ex-CMC Chairperson and Ex-Congressmen Mahadev Dessai was also present.
