PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that Goa Police will continue to assume the role of strict no tolerance policy against drugs.
Sawant also said that crime detection rate in the state has raised to 90% through our targetted efforts and initiatives.
“Goa Police will continue to assume the role of strict no tolerance policy against drugs, it is also pertinent to note that the crime detection rate in the state is raised to 90% through our targetted efforts and initiatives,” said Sawant
He further said that they have successfully created major awareness against the land grabbing cases through the department. He also claimed that the conviction rate in criminal cases has been improving and that currently it is 33%, almost double than the previous years.
The Chief Minister further declared that in order to totally prevent cell phone smuggling into the Colvale Central Jail, security will be stepped up.
If necessary, cell phone jammers will be placed on the jail’s property. Periodically, there are raids, and during the raids, cell phones are taken. I’ll request that jail administrators increase security there.
“There will be an end to the mobile phone smuggling into the jail. Jammers would be installed if necessary, he added, adding that the inspector general of police has taken responsibility of the facility and that the regulations are now more stringent.
“In addition, CCTV cameras will be installed,” Chief Minister added.
He said the state police department had written to the DGP in Telangana regarding the police department’s claim that there was a connection between drug dealers and the Goa police. Still, there was no reply.
The Telangana DGP and the Goa DGP had also communicated. However, Sawant insisted that they lacked any evidence.
