CANACONA – Stating Canacona has promising produce of local products, needs a wider market for the products, Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar assured to enhance the marketing avenues by bringing over 60 crores of investments under TRIFED scheme.
Inaugurating the 11-day Swayampurn Chaturthi bazaar organised under Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swayampurna Goem at Chaudi, Tawadkar said women of Canacona are very accustomed and have art to prepare various local eatables products, including Kokam, Chillies. ‘Besides, a lot of agri-products are produced by Canconcars, which requires a proper market. We are going to implement certain projects under TRIFED scheme investing around 60 crores, and benefiting more than 1000 families of Canacona alone’, Tawadkar informed.
According to Tawadkar, there are 500 Self-Help Groups in Canacona, whereas only a handful of just 10 SHGs are active.
The main objective of TRIFED (Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited) is to promote marketing development for the tribal people. It performs the role of both a market developer and a service provider. They support the tribal people with tools and training which can help them boost their market and production. (TRIFED) is a central government scheme.
