PONDA: Tense situation was prevailed at Usgao and Murdi side of Khandepar river over construction of Bandhara. The proposed Bandhara will store water to meet drinking water requirement at Priol and other parts. However Sonarbaag Usgao side as well Murdi Khandepar side locals strongly opposed the project fearing flooding of houses in monsoon.
The Village Panchayats of Curti Khandepar and Usgao Ganjem had already passed resolution in gramasaba opposing the project. The Locals at both sides said there is no proper verification of documents and legals heirs are not taken into confidence.The locals said they are even ready for arrest but will oppose the project.
In presence of several police force the Ponda Mamlatdar and WRD Official today morning reached Sonarbaag Usgao for launching their work on Bandhara. However who were present even before arrival of Officials and Police strongly and unitedly opposed construction work citing flooding in monsoon. The Local Panchmember Vinod Mascarenhas at Sonarbaag Usgao assured Panchayat support to locals.
Following this Officials went other side of river at Murdi Khandepar however here too locals were present in large number opposed survey and construction work on Bandhara. Thus Locals at both sides opposed Bandhara on Khandepar claiming flooding of their houses in monsoon. Abijeet Gaude supported the locals.
WRD AE Shailesh Gaude said the Bandhara is for drinking water needs of people as We are facing water crisis in summer and so need more bandharas. Already there are more than 18 Bandharas on OPA river. The water at proposed bandhara will be stored after rainy season.
The Locals earlier opposed Bandhara at downstream so We proposed it 500 meters upstream at elevated height still Murdi locals opposed it. He said Bandhara will be opened in rainy season so that river water allow to flow.
