PANAJI: LoP Yuri Alemao highlighted pressing issues of Mhadei, casino industry damaging Goa’s image and reckless sale of Goa, during Goa Legislator’s Day program.
He also lamented stating the Government is stifling the voice of opposition and it wants opposition to crawl.
“First, the threat to our lifeline Mhadei. Second, the Casino industry parading as the proprietor of River Mandovi and damaging Goa’s image as the land of the pious, saintly and spiritual. Third, the reckless sale of Goa, transfers, change in use or zoning,” said Alemao
He further said that he was flagging these issues once again because these issues have magnified and there does not seem to be an inch of progress on Mhadei.
“On the other hand, the tensions and threats have multiplied. Tiger is spotted at Kankumbi, which means “Tiger Zinda hai”, and “Sarkar Soya hai” over notifying Mhadei wildlife sanctuary as Tiger Reserve. There are records of NTCA in regards to the presence of Tigers in Mhadei,” he added
He also said that it is a sad situation that the Casino industry and related gambling businesses are projected as the economic life-line of Goa! It is really pathetic to hear that our economy today is Casino dominant or dependent.
And further, the sickness of land conversions has further grown into the menace of land grabbing and massive land transfers to land bankers.
“We expect suggestions from former MLAs to steer our Goa and protect our identity. The communal venom is entered and being forced to enter the minds of a harmonious and liberal Goan,” he said
Alemao also said that this is the threat to the DNA of Goa and Goans. We don’t want communal tensions and also to become swayampurn in ‘Ganja and other narcotics’. We need to eradicate its roots.
