PANAJI: SP Traffic today said that traffic violators will face penalties as authorities send out maximum violation notices.
“Traffic violators will face penalties as authorities send out maximum violation notices. Safety first—please follow all traffic rules to avoid fines and further actions,” said SP Traffic
On Monday besides issuing challans to 658 traffic violators, another 1524 notices were issued to traffic violators in a single day.
Goa Police Traffic Cell has launched a unique, extended campaign to crack down on infractions of the Motor Vehicle (MV) Act.
The traffic cell personnel booked a number of people on for riding without a helmet, not wearing a seatbelt, being an excessive number of passengers, and driving recklessly and carelessly.
The majority of the violators, according to traffic police, were not wearing helmets, and some of them were also riding with a pillion rider.
According to a traffic police officer, some drivers are still unaware of the restrictions. He said once everyone wears helmets there won’t be a need for clampdowns.
Traffic Police also seized as many as 17 rented cars used by tourists, as they were registered as private vehicles.
“Renting out private vehicles without authorisation is illegal and punishable under the law. Action will continue against such violations,” SP Traffic, Goa, posted on their X handle.
