MANDREM: Mandrem Police have arrested two Afghan nationals in separate cases for allegedly staying illegally in Goa without valid visas or travel documents.
In the first case, Police Constable Premnath Mhammal of Mandrem Police Station lodged a complaint against Abdul Fazeel Nudrat (26), an Afghanistan national residing near Aqua Bella Resort at Madhalamaj, Mandrem.
Police said Abdul Fazeel Nudrat was intercepted near the Arambol Beach parking area on July 30 at around 6 pm during routine patrolling. During interrogation, he was allegedly found staying in India and Goa without a valid visa or travel documents. A case was registered under Crime No. 68/2026 under Section 23(a) of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, and he was arrested later that night after following the prescribed Supreme Court guidelines.
In a second case, PSI Laximan S. Dessai lodged a complaint against Mohammad Naseer Hamidi (29), another Afghanistan national residing near Aqua Bella Resort at Madhalamaj, Mandrem.
According to police, Mohammad Naseer Hamidi was found near Aqua Bella Resort at around 6.15 pm on July 30 and was allegedly staying in India and Goa without a valid visa or travel documents. He was arrested under Crime No. 69/2026 under Section 23(a) of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, after police informed him of the grounds for his arrest and followed all prescribed Supreme Court guidelines.
Police said the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) has been requested to inform the Afghanistan Embassy so that the family members of both accused can be notified. Further investigations are being carried out by PSI Laximan S. Dessai in the first case and Head Constable Govind Fati Naik of Mandrem Police Station in the second case.
