CANACONA: Police have registered a case against two individuals for allegedly forging documents to obtain an extension for submitting audit reports of a temple trust.
According to the complaint filed by Udhesh V & Associates, a firm based in Gogol, Margao, the incident occurred on January 14, 2026, at the office of the Mamlatdar in Canacona.
The accused, identified as Prabhakar Gaonkar, a committee member of Shree Mallikarjun Devasthan, allegedly produced a forged letter dated January 14, 2026, claiming it to be issued by the complainant firm. The letter reportedly bore a forged signature and counterfeit official seal of the Chartered Accountant.
Police stated that the forged document was allegedly prepared by the second accused, Swapnil Pawar, a resident of Borda, with the intent of securing a six-month extension for submission of the Devasthan’s audit reports.
Canacona Police have registered a case in the matter, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Shivram Gauns.
