PANAJI: Police have registered two separate unnatural death cases following the deaths of a 68-year-old woman at GMC Bambolim and a 27-year-old man who was brought to the hospital from Malim Jetty.
In the first case, Old Goa Police registered UD No. 63/2026 under Section 194 of the BNSS after receiving information that Swaroopa Vaigankar, 68, a resident of Patto, Ribandar, died while undergoing treatment at GMC Bambolim.
According to police, Vaigankar had been admitted to GMC on September 13 after reportedly being found unconscious. During the enquiry, her family members stated that she was suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure. Police said no foul play was suspected.
Further enquiry is being conducted by PSI Saiesh Bhonsle of Old Goa Police Station.
In a separate case, Porvorim Police registered UD No. 26/2026 under Section 194 of the BNSS after receiving information about the death of Esak Munda, 27, a native of Sundargarh, Odisha.
Munda, who was reportedly found unconscious, was shifted by an EMRI 108 ambulance to GMC and subsequently referred to GMC Bambolim. He was declared brought dead at the hospital.
Police said statements of his family members were recorded and they did not suspect any foul play. It was also revealed that Munda had multiple medical conditions and was undergoing treatment.
His body has been preserved at the GMC Bambolim morgue, while the post-mortem examination is awaited.
