MAPUSA: Officials of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) on Tuesday detained a Ugandan woman from Junas Wada, Mandrem, for allegedly overstaying in India.
According to official sources, the foreign national had been overstaying in the country since August 2023 after her authorised period of stay expired. She had been residing in Mumbai before arriving in Goa around two months ago.
Acting on the information, FRRO officials traced and detained the woman from Junas Wada in Mandrem. Following the completion of necessary formalities, she was shifted to the detention centre at Mapusa.
Further proceedings under the provisions of the Foreigners Act and other applicable immigration laws are being initiated by the authorities.
