COLVALE: An undertrial prisoner has been booked for allegedly assaulting a fellow inmate inside Central Jail, Colvale, following a dispute linked to previous enmity.
According to police, the complaint was lodged on July 23 by N.B. Pavane, Deputy Superintendent of Central Jail, Colvale. The incident reportedly occurred on July 19 at around 4 pm in Block No. 3, Cell No. 4/5 of the jail.
Police said the accused, identified as undertrial prisoner Mohammad Shainsha, allegedly abused fellow undertrial prisoner Mohammad Ashraf using filthy language before attacking him with a carrom board.
The assault reportedly caused fracture injuries to Ashraf’s left eye and cheekbone. The accused also allegedly threatened to kill the victim over previous enmity.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Vishnu Jadhav.
