PERNEM: Pernem Police have launched an investigation after a decomposed body of an unidentified man was found near the crematorium site in Pernem on September 15.
An Unnatural Death (UD) case, numbered 15/2026 under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), was registered at around 3 pm following a call from an unidentified person reporting that a body was lying near the crematorium.
PSI Aditya Gad visited the spot and found the decomposed body of an unidentified male. Police searched the surrounding area for any incriminating material or other clues that could shed light on the circumstances leading to the death, but nothing of significance was recovered.
Police said the deceased appeared to be a homeless person. The body has been preserved to facilitate identification.
Investigators are now working to establish the identity of the deceased and ascertain the circumstances surrounding his death.
