PORVORIM: An unidentified man’s body was found floating in the waters at Torda Patto, Porvorim, in the early hours of Sunday, prompting Porvorim Police to register an unnatural death case.
According to police, U.D. No. 20/2026 under Section 194 of the BNSS was registered at 12.40 am on August 2 after Parmesh Naik informed the police that a male body was floating in Torda Creek.
Police personnel immediately rushed to the spot, where Fire and Emergency Services personnel retrieved the body from the water. An inquest and scene panchanama were conducted in the presence of panch witnesses.
The deceased is yet to be identified. Police described him as a man aged around 25 to 30 years, of fair complexion, thin build and about 5.5 feet tall, with an oval-shaped face, a medium-grown moustache and tattoos on both arms and hands. He was wearing a black sleeveless T-shirt, black shorts and black sandals.
No identity documents or personal belongings were found on the deceased.
The body has been shifted to the GMC Morgue at Bambolim for preservation, post-mortem examination and identification.
