MARGAO: An unidentified man, believed to be around 50 to 55 years old, died after being struck by a Honda WR-V near Pinto Bar, Military Camp, MES Margao, late on July 25.
According to Margao Town Police, the vehicle, driven by Narendra Arolkar, a resident of Dicarpali, Margao, was travelling from Rawanfond Circle towards Quepem when the accident occurred at around 11.30 pm.
The injured pedestrian was rushed to the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, where doctors declared him brought dead.
During the investigation, police visited the accident site and conducted inquiries. They learnt that the deceased was an unidentified man who reportedly begged for a living and used to sleep by the roadside.
A witness, identified as Sachin Kotebhavi Madivali, told police that the deceased suddenly ran onto the road near Pinto Bar, Military Camp, resulting in a collision with the Honda WR-V travelling towards Quepem.
Margao Town Police have registered a motor vehicle accident case, and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Sameer Gaonkar.
