VASCO: In a significant development in the ongoing investigation, a Vasco Police team on Wednesday late night returned to Goa from Dehradun after arresting Madhav Khattar, brother of the main accused Gautam Khattar.
Following the arrest, Madhav Khattar was subsequently handed over to the Crime Branch for further investigation into the case. On Thursday afternoon, the Crime Branch produced the accused Madhav Khattar before the Vasco court amid heightened attention surrounding the matter.
During the court proceedings, Madhav Khattar was represented by his advocate, and detailed arguments were heard from both sides. After considering the submissions, the court granted four days of police custody to the accused to facilitate further interrogation and probe into his role in the case.
Meanwhile, in a parallel development, the court also issued a non-bailable warrant against the main accused Gautam Khattar, who remains at large. Investigators are now expected to intensify efforts to track him down, with multiple leads reportedly being pursued by the Crime Branch.
The case, which has drawn considerable public and political attention in the region, continues to unfold as agencies work to piece together the sequence of events and identify the involvement of all those connected to the incident.
