PANAJI: Vasco BJP MLA Carlos Almeida on Tuesday demanded the CM Dr Pramod Sawant to increase the health infrastructure after being upset with the rising number of Covid deaths in Goa.
Almeida speaking to media said that he was getting calls from various people at mid night asking for help regarding admissions in hospitals or to arrange a bed in hospitals.
“There are lot of people calling me frantically in the middle of night and even at 2.30 am seeking help from me to arrange a bed for the people,” Alemida said.
He stated that the mortality rate in Goa has gone up and there are many people dying and in such a situation the CM must ensure additional health infrastructure and deploy more beds in hospitals.
“We have so many government hospital but with lack of beds ,people are forced to go to private hospitals. We have so many new hospitals that are ready like the newly built primary health centre at Cansaulim which can be opened to accommodate patients,” he says.
Almeida said that though the CM is doing his best, the need of the hour is that he take steps to improve health infrastructure further.
“I will meet the CM today and take up this issue with him because today it is more important to save lives by adding up more health infrastructure ” said Almeida.
