VASCO: Locals from Vasco face great inconvenience while commuting from the Vasco KTC bus stretch to the Goa Shipyard Ltd road stretch. The main road at this stretch has been drugged up, and the ongoing work results in the slow movement of traffic on this busy road.
From Vasco Vaddem to the Mundwel Kadamba bus stand, the national road is undergoing repair work these days. For the last two years, for some of the other works this road stretch has been dug up, which causes inconvenience to the pedestrians and commuters.
Sources said that the National Highways Authority and Mormugaon Municipality have not permission for excavation on this road.
Rohan, a commuter, stated that digging of this road had become a familiar scene. We don’t know why there is always some problem at this road stretch. While passing through this road, we face problems due to the slow movement of traffic.
Another girl named Andi said that still there is heavy transport moving through the main busy road, which may even cause accidents. In this, once again, the road has been dug open, driving slow movement of traffic through town.
When contacted, Joaquim Vaz, Assistant Engineer of Sewerage Corporation Goa, and asked about this issue, Vaz stated that due to some varying levels of the Sewerage pipeline, the sewage flow is not happening correctly at this road stretch. Therefore to resolve this problem, we are putting a new sewerage pipeline at this road stretch. In the next four days, the work will get complete, and with the sewage problem, the slow movement of traffic will also be solved.
