PANAJI: Chicalim’s rising cricket star, Veer Yadav played a crucial role in guiding the Goa Cricket Association to a thrilling five-wicket victory over the Nepal Cricket Association in the 42nd All India Uttarakhand Gold Cup 2026. The talented batter produced a composed and responsible innings of 80 runs, helping Goa successfully chase down Nepal’s target and secure an important win in the tournament.
Nepal posted a competitive total of 210/9 in their allotted overs after being put under pressure by Goa’s bowling attack. The standout performer with the ball was Deepraj Gaonkar, who delivered an outstanding spell and claimed six wickets to restrict the opposition to a manageable score.
In response, Goa faced a challenging chase but found a dependable anchor in Veer Yadav. Displaying maturity beyond his years, the Chicalim youngster scored 80 runs off 91 deliveries, striking four boundaries and four sixes. His innings came at a crucial stage when Goa needed stability after losing early wickets. Veer built valuable partnerships and ensured that the team remained on course throughout the chase.
He received useful support from Lalit Yadav, who contributed 42 runs, while captain Snehal Kauthankar added 23 runs. Their efforts helped Goa reach 215/7 in 33.4 overs and complete the chase with five wickets in hand.
The impressive performance has brought pride to Chicalim, as Veer is the son of Kamla Prasad Yadav. Local residents and cricket enthusiasts have congratulated the young cricketer for his remarkable achievement on the national stage.
