PANAJI: The District Magistrate, South Goa District under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 has ordered all the owners of the houses buildings, flats and other residential accommodations and the Owners/ Management of all Hotels, Lodging and Boarding, Shacks, Private guest houses, Paying Guest accommodation of religious bodies, Temporarily residential accommodation, etc., in the whole of South Goa District should verify the bonafide of the persons through their proof of identity such as Election Card, Driving License, Aadhar Card, Passport, etc., and make necessary arrangements for the entry of details of Customers/ Visitors in the PATHIK (Programme for Analysis of Traveler and Hotel Informatics) software prepared by police.
It has also ordered that no landlords/tenants/owner/ person of any house/ property which falls under the territorial jurisdiction of South Goa District, Goa shall let/ sublet/rent out any accommodation to any person unless and until he/ she has furnished the particulars of the tenants to the Police –In –Charge of the concerned Police Station.
Further, it has been ordered that the charge of such accommodation shall provide such facilities for inspection of the maintenance of records in the software by the Police Authorities or any other authority authorised by the District Magistrate if so desired by them.
Also, all the heads of Nationalized Banks of South Goa District should deploy security guards for the security of their ATMs around the clock and also to install CCTV cameras or install ESS (Electronic Survey System) equipped with Panic button hooters, CCTV Cameras, two–way communication system and remote outstanding control.
This order has come into force with effect from July 16, 2024, and will remain in operation for a period of 60 days unless withdrawn earlier. Violation of this order is punishable u/s 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
