MARGAO: Goa Forward Party MLA Vijai Sardesai on Friday participated in a paddy plantation drive, planting rice saplings and reiterating his party’s commitment to revitalising Goa’s agricultural sector through the use of advanced technology.
Addressing farmers and supporters during the programme, Sardesai said that if the Goa Forward Party comes to power in the 2027 Assembly elections, it would introduce artificial intelligence (AI)-powered robotic technology to support agricultural activities across the state.
He claimed that nearly 20,000 hectares of agricultural land in Goa currently remain uncultivated and said the party would undertake a phased programme to bring the fallow land back under cultivation.
According to Sardesai, the proposed use of AI-driven robots would help address challenges such as labour shortages, improve productivity and make farming more sustainable and economically viable.
The Goa Forward leader said technology-driven solutions could play a key role in strengthening the state’s agricultural economy while encouraging greater participation in farming activities.
He also stressed the importance of preserving Goa’s agricultural heritage and ensuring that cultivable land is utilised productively for food security and rural development.
Sardesai said the revival of agriculture would be among the key priorities of a Goa Forward-led government if the party is voted to power in 2027.
