PANAJI: Freedom Fighters children called off their four-day long hunger strike after North Goa Collector IAS R Menaka assured to absorb them through Human Resource Development Corporation & jobs in Govt sector.
The Children of Freedom Fighters Association have been on hunger strike since the last four days, making a plea to the Government to listen to their grievances. The Association have submitted a memorandum comprising 18 points regarding the long pending demand of the aforesaid.
The Collector conveyed the concern of the Government in meeting the grievances of the Children of Freedom Fighters of providing employment. The Collector informed that the Government has already agreed to provide jobs to 23 eligible children of Freedom Fighters after one and half months. Secondly the Collector requested to provide the names of 26 children who are left out to registered to include their names in the list of 250 children.
The Collector also apprised them of absorbing some candidates through Goa Human Resource Development Corporation and rest of them would be absorbed in Government jobs as and when vacancies are available.
On the Problem of some candidates who have crossed the age limit, the Collector assured to find out solution as to how the Government could consider the criteria of age factor, eligibility plus availability of vacancies etc.
The core issue revolved on employment to be provided to the Children of Freedom Fighters, number of which on the list are 250. Apart from this another 26 are out of list and are seeking to be included in the list.
