CANACONA : A water-filled tanker on a mission to supply water at Agonda with its rearside tyres got buried in the mud on Monday evening.
According to sources, the private Water-Tanker (GA01 T5859) was on PWD mission to supply -water to some of the areas where tap water do not reach. The same and other tankers are also operating to supply water privately to various commercial clients in the village of Agonda.
It is learnt that the water-Tanker was driven off the road to give side to an oncoming heavy vehicle, and while negotiating on the kutcha mud-filled road being taken back onto the tar- road, the Tanker however, got it’s left Rearside tyre went into the mud and the truck got stuck.
Inspite of severe tries, the Tanker was unable to retrieve, even as more tries brought the right-side front Tyre into the air.
The restaurant staff than assisted to pump out water and empty the tanker, before finally succeeding in making the tanker motorable for yet another trip.
While water -taps are mostly running dry, with PWD (water-supply) resorting to supply water only for a little over-an-hour on alternate days, people especially commercial operators in Agonda resort to buying water from private water suppliers.
However, wherever even the alternate days supplied water is not reaching in their taps,, PWD is sending water tankers and people residing on roadside takes it benefits to fill up/stock up water to some extent.-
