PORVORIM: Amid rumors of some major political development in the State, meeting between Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar has raised several eyebrows, with sources confirming that the meet is with regards to some ‘political strategy’.
However, both MLA Pravin Arlekar and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant declined to comment on the issue.
“Chal Dev Bare Koru” said CM Sawant when asked about any political developments.
Amidst Political rumours MLA Pravin Arlekar also seen attending Bhagwat Saptah at Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s residence in Sankhali.
Sawant is also expected to head to Delhi today as per sources which has further fuelled the political intrigue and discussion related to this outstation trip.
The speculation continues over the expected Cabinet reshuffle which Sawant himself has said will be effected by him. The chief minister had also ruled out any leadership change but did not give any timeline for his Cabinet rejig.
Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar, and a few other MLAs have reportedly been demanding a seat in the Cabinet in recent years. Some of these politicians have even visited Delhi and talked with top BJP officials.
Rane had been challenging Sawant’s leadership since the day the 2022 assembly election results were announced on March 10.
For about a month, the Sawant-Rane leadership contest even postponed the formation of the administration.
But in the end, the BJP leadership agreed to let Sawant take the helm once more and appeased Rane by giving him substantial ministries in the areas of TCP, health, forests, and women and children. However, the gap between the two has barely lessened throughout the course of the following two and a half years.
