CURCHOREM: People from the Curchorem constituency gave an overwhelming response to the public meeting of the Congress party on Friday.
BJP’s public meeting got a lukewarm response in the town held simultaneously on the same day.
Addressing the gathering, Congress Party leader Rahul Gandhi said that the Congress party government that will get the majority of seats will be not of anyone leader nor of one person but of Goans, Goan youth, Goan farmers, Goan labourers and Goan traders.
Leaders like K.C. Venugopal, P. Chidambaram, Gundu Rao, GPCC President Girish Chodankar, LOP Digamber Kamat, PCC Senior President M.K. Shaikh and local Block President Pushkal Sawant, besides other local party leaders were present on occasion.
Speaking further, Gandhi said that after forming the government, decisions will be taken after listening, talking and consulting the people of Goa.
“The issue of unemployment not only exists in Goa but in the whole country because today there are two countries within our country, one is of the rich and chosen people where they can do whatever they want because they have lot of money and other is of poor people’s, unemployment, and pain of Hindustan and we do not want such type of Hindustan nor Goa, because India is one country and therefore everyone much get equal opportunities,” said Gandhi.
Assuring the mining dependent people, Gandhi said that the Congress party would commence the mining sustainably and legally once they come to power. “BJP has not mentioned any word about the environment in their party manifesto because they want to convert Goa into a coal hub where Goans will not get any benefit out of it, and therefore Congress party will never allow it to happen,” Gandhi assured strongly.
Promising that Goans would get justice, Gandhi said that poor people would be given Rs.6000 per month and credited directly to their accounts. “30 per cent reservation for women for government jobs and Rs.500 crores provision will be made in the first budget to create employment opportunities, and will invest in the tourism sector by investing in it as we know how to revive it,” assured Gandhi and said that BJP has destroyed the economic condition of the State by implementing GST.
Asking to vote and elect the young candidate Amit Patkar which the Congress party has given, Gandhi said that the fight is between Congress and BJP and therefore not to split their valuable vote by voting for other smaller parties as they will form the government. “This time, the Congress party will form the government and therefore not waste your vote by voting for these smaller parties as the Congress party has to win with maximum seats by a huge margin.” Urged Gandhi.
Later, Curchorem Congress candidate Amit Patkar assured to resolve the unemployment issue on a priority basis and complete all the pending infrastructure quickly.
“I will resolve the unemployment issue within the shortest possible time and complete all the pending infrastructures on a priority basis, including the much-needed health centre,” said Amit Patkar.
He further informed that the Solid Waste Management Treatment Plant at Cacora will be revived to be suitable only for the garbage from Curchorem and not from any other place.
