PANAJI: Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar declared on Tuesday that the Goa Legislative Assembly’s Winter Session will take place in the first week of January.
Tawadkar told reporters that the dates for the week-long winter session will be revealed soon.
As announced by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the State government is anticipated to introduce a Regulation to regularize the Goan houses on the comunidade land during this session.
In addition, Tawadkar expressed his support for the government’s decision and mentioned that he had submitted a proposal to stop the demolition of Canacona homes that are on comunidade land and have already been given notice.
“Notices of demolition have been sent to about seventy houses. But these folks went to court and succeeded in obtaining a stay. We must defend these Goans because they are ours, the Speaker declared.
Nearly 60% of Agonda village is community area, according to Tawadkar, the Canacona MLA, and everyone living there is Niz Goemkar.
About 1,000 houses in Canacona, Saligao, Pernem, and Mapusa alone that are situated on comunidade land will have to be demolished, according to the Chief Minister, who is closely monitoring the situation.
Tawadkar stated that the government is determined to see to it that political reservation is granted to Schedule Tribe (ST) communities prior to the upcoming State Assembly elections in 2027.
