With two new power transformer installation work at OPA , Ponda , Tiswadi will get uninterrupted water supply said Executive Engineer Nivruthi Parsekar. He along with AE Jaywant Prabu inspecting the transformer installation work on Friday evening.
He said old transformers replaced because they had begun leaking oil. The old transformers will be kept as standby and will be used only incase of breakdown.
The old would be also repaired and keep stand by at time of emergency.
New high capacity transformer installation work at OPA Treatment Plant was began yesterday morning and by evening the work is nearly completed. After this Water tank at Tiswadi and Ponda would filled and Water supply would restored on 11 March Early Morning said EE Nivruti Parsekar.
He along with technical Officials and Engineers inspected the workon installation of new Power Transformer at OPA Water Treatment Plant. He said the old transformers were functioning for long time and after installation of new two Transformers the water supply would be smooth.
**He said out of total 6 transformers at 33 KVA sub station at OPA today two transformers with one was almost fifty year old were replaced with new ones. The 3150 KVA replaced with new 5000 KVA and 1000 KVA replaced with new 1000 KVA. He said generally life of transformer is 25 years but one of it used for fifty years due to timely maintanance work by staff. He also said water tanks were also cleaned today and flow meters were also replaced at Mangueshim Priol.
**It may recalled that PWD had declared re- stricted water supply to the areas of Panjim, Taleigao, Santa Cruz, Sant Andre, Ponda, Cumbarjua, Priol and Marcaim constituencies along with part of Shiroda, Valpoi and Dharbandora constituencies on March 10 and 11.
The restriction in supply of water will be due to 33 KV power shutdown at Opa Water Works for installation of new trans- formers,however work was completed on 10 March only and water supply would be restored from today 11 March early morning.
