MARGAO: Margao Colva Police have registered a case against a woman for allegedly setting fire to a residential house at Raia, Salcete, resulting in partial damage to the property.
According to a complaint filed by Renuka Mahtpati, a resident of Fatorda, the incident occurred prior to 4.28 am on September 19, 2026, at Raia.
Police said the accused, Sarala Patil, a native of Jalgaon, Maharashtra, allegedly caused mischief by setting fire to the residential house of the complainant’s brother-in-law, Mallesh Naik.
The fire reportedly caused partial destruction to the house. Police stated that the incident was allegedly linked to a dispute arising from the friendship between Patil and Naik.
Further investigation is being conducted by LPSI Veronica Coutinho of Margao Colva Police Station.
