QUEPEM: A woman from Bardez, Leena Mendes, has been accused of allegedly cheating a Quepem resident of Rs 99.50 lakh in connection with two bungalow purchase transactions in Varca.
According to the complaint lodged by Babu Kolekar, a resident of Balli, Quepem, the alleged incidents took place between June 2023 and the date of the complaint.
The complainant alleged that Mendes represented herself as the lawful owner of a bungalow located at Calata, Varca, and dishonestly induced him to pay Rs 75 lakh towards the purchase of the property.
Subsequently, the accused allegedly proposed to sell another bungalow in Varca and induced the complainant to pay an additional Rs 24.50 lakh towards the second transaction.
However, the accused allegedly failed to execute the sale deeds for both properties, resulting in an alleged financial loss of Rs 99.50 lakh to the complainant.
Further investigation in the case is being conducted by PSI Kishor Velip of Cuncolim Police Station.
