Bicholim: A 53-year-old woman, identified as Pramisha, a resident of Shirgao in Bicholim, succumbed to injuries at Goa Medical College and Hospital after falling from a moving scooter earlier this week.
According to police, the incident occurred on April 15 at around 4:45 pm when the victim was travelling as a pillion rider on an Aprilia scooter from Shirgao to Assnora. The vehicle was being ridden by a man from Arpora, Bardez.
While passing near the KTC bus stand in Assnora, the rider slowed down to cross a speed breaker. During this, the pillion rider—who was seated sideways—lost balance, slipped off the scooter, and fell onto the road, sustaining serious head injuries.
She was immediately shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, where she was admitted under medico-legal care. However, despite treatment in the ICU, she later succumbed to her injuries.
Post-mortem examination confirmed that the cause of death was cranio-cerebral damage resulting from a blunt force impact.
Police have registered the case, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Dattaraj Rane of Colvale Police Station.
