CANACONA: A woman scooter rider lost her life after a car allegedly driven on the wrong side collided with her two-wheeler at Dapot, Mashem in Canacona on Wednesday morning.
According to Canacona police, the accident occurred at around 9 am when a Ford EcoSport driven by Chandrakant Pednekar, a resident of Kodibag, Karwar (Karnataka), was travelling from Canacona towards Pollem. On reaching Dapot, the driver allegedly moved onto the wrong side of the road and crashed into an oncoming Activa scooter heading from Mashem towards Canacona.
The scooter rider, identified as Suchita Bandekar, a resident of Dhulgali, Shelim in Canacona, sustained severe bleeding injuries in the impact. She was rushed to the Community Health Centre at Canacona, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Police have registered a case based on a complaint filed on behalf of the State. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Shivram Gauns of Canacona police station.
