TALEIGAO: A woman pedestrian succumbed to her injuries after she was allegedly hit by a scooter near Bank of Baroda at Taleigao on Friday morning. Panaji Police have registered a case against the scooter rider for causing death by rash and negligent driving.
According to the state complaint lodged by Head Constable Babu Ballapa Madanwar of Panaji Police Station, the accident occurred at around 5.55 am on July 25.
Police alleged that Sudhanshu Yadav (25), a resident of Taleigao originally from Hamirpur district, Uttar Pradesh, was riding an Activa scooter (GA-03-S-2538) from Taleigao towards Santa Cruz in a rash and negligent manner when he allegedly knocked down a woman pedestrian near Bank of Baroda, Taleigao.
The victim, identified as Kavita Kunkolkar of Amral, Taleigao, sustained serious injuries in the accident. She was shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, where she later succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.
Panaji Police have registered a case under Sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Rohan Madgaonkar of Panaji Police Station.
