CANACONA: Canacona police today has registered an FIR against Rameshwar Mandrekar and Ravin Bhandari for allegedly cheating a person from Poinguinim to the tune of Rs 5 lakh under the pretext of providing employment in the police.
It was Naik who filed the complaint. It should be noted that this is Naik’s third complaint. He had previously filed complaints on January 10, 2024, and April 3, 2021.
But after Naik’s third complaint, police have now filed a formal charge under Section 420 of the IPC due to the growing number of pay for employment incidents that have come to light.
Naik made the payment in 2020, according to the allegation. Mandrekar had stated that he was a minister’s wife’s driver.
Additionally, he is accused of discussing his relationship with a VIP. The defendants promised to give Naik a position in the police force within a year.
As a result, Mandrekar and Bhandari sought Rs 5 lakh, and Naik, accompanied by his friend, paid in Canacona with his father’s help based on the accused’s assurance.
According to the complainant, the accused additionally promised to reimburse the money in the event that they were unable to provide the job.
