SANCOALE: A 21-year-old woman from Sancoale was found dead at her residence on Friday, with police registering the case as an apparent suicide.
According to information received by Verna Police, casualty staff at Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Chicalim, informed police at around 1:13 pm on May 30 that a woman, identified as Baby Arjun Rajat, had been brought dead to the hospital.
During the inquiry, police spoke with the deceased’s family members and friends, who stated that she had been distressed and withdrawn over the previous few days and had reportedly not been eating properly.
Police said the woman was found unresponsive at her residence between 10:14 am and 11:14 am. She was initially taken to a medical facility in Sancoale by friends and was later shifted to SDH Chicalim by a 108 ambulance service, where doctors declared her brought dead.
The body has been preserved at South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for medico-legal formalities, including a post-mortem examination.
Further inquiry is being conducted by LPSI Sapna Gawas of Verna Police Station.
