PANAJI: The Goa Pradesh Youth Congress will distribute around 10 thousand mineral water bottles to COVID patients admitted in Government hospitals, starting from 21st May.
GPYC President Adv. Varad Mardolkar said that on 21st May, they will observe the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and will later visit Asilo, Goa Medical College, South District Hospital, Sub District Hospital Ponda and ESI hospital with water bottles.
The South Goa District Youth Congress Committee members will distribute the same in South Goa, while the North Goa District Youth Congress will distribute in two government hospitals in the north.
“Since last 15 to 20 days we have been regularly visiting these hospitals to provide Oxygen cylinders and other essential things to patients. During that period we noticed that families and relatives of COVID infected patients struggle to get water to drink. This made us think about providing water to them and we are executing it from 21st May.” Adv. Mardolkar said.
“It is very good to see that youths, irrespective of party and ideological affiliations, have come forward to help COVID patients and their families by providing them essential things. Youths have set an example of ‘Humanity First’ by giving solace to the COVID patients.” He said.
“We, from Youth Congress, are inspired by the work done by Rajiv Gandhiji for youths and society. At present society is grappled with problems of COVID and hence it becomes our duty to help them.” Adv. Mardolkar said.
He also appealed to youths from NGOS and institutions to lend their help to society in these testing times. “we need to break the chain of COVID and hence there is a need to work towards this goal.” He said.
