New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi has congratulated Vijay following his party’s impressive performance in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. In a message shared after the results, Gandhi highlighted that the outcome reflects the growing influence of young voters, calling it a mandate that cannot be overlooked.
Gandhi said he personally spoke with Vijay to commend him on the achievement, noting that the electoral verdict signals a shift in public sentiment, particularly among the youth. He emphasised that the aspirations and voices of younger generations are becoming increasingly decisive in shaping political outcomes.
At the same time, the Congress leader reaffirmed his party’s commitment to the people of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. He expressed gratitude to party workers for their efforts during the campaign and assured that the Congress would continue to work towards the welfare and protection of citizens in the region.
Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, has made a remarkable entry into state politics by emerging as the single largest party in terms of seats won or contested. Despite falling short of the majority mark in the 234-member Assembly, its performance has significantly altered the political landscape.
The results point to a changing dynamic in Tamil Nadu politics, with new forces gaining traction and traditional parties facing fresh challenges. Gandhi’s response reflects an acknowledgment of this shift, particularly the growing role of youth participation in influencing electoral outcomes.
As the state moves toward government formation, the spotlight remains on how emerging political players will shape the next phase of governance and how established parties adapt to the evolving expectations of voters.
